1. What is 'Skip Now, Pay Later'?

Hiring a skip bin is often an unforeseen expense. Or, it comes on top of other expenses such as moving house, or a renovation.

So to ease the cost burden Skip Bin Hire Australia now offers a 0% interest payment plan with the ability to spread the cost of your skip over a period that suits you, up to 12 months.

Application takes just 45 seconds for up to $1,000 credit.  Just tick the box during check out to apply.

Skip Bin Hire Australia is not a financial product provider, so to enable us to offer this solution to you, we have teamed up with one of the financial industries leading credit providers, ZipPay, backed by Westpac.

2. How quickly can a skip be delivered?

If you order before 11am Monday to Friday, we can typically have your skip bin with you that same day.

If you are ever in any doubt, or have an urgent requirement, click the chat button below to speak to a team member 24/7 or, call us on 1800 422 945.

3. What can I put in a skip bin?

Skip bins take almost anything that will fit into them.

However, for environmental reasons, certain items attract a surcharge, or, should be disposed of seperately. These include:

  • Tyres
  • Batteries
  • Paint and paint tins

  • Gas Bottles
  • Asbestos
  • Insulation
  • Clinical or medical waste
  • Hazardous or Toxic Materials
  • Flourescent tubes
  • Solvents
  • Liquids
  • Oil, petrol or diesel

NOTE: if these items are discovered in the bin, the skip bin supplier will face a significant surcharge (which will vary item to item) which in turn, they will pass on to you, the customer.

To avoid this happening to you, we recommend carefully reading the information accompaying your bin.

    4. What size skip bin should I hire?

Let's get the obvious out of the depends how much junk you need to dispose of!

Assessing the amount is the harder part...

We recommend comparing to a large council disposal bin, which is typically 240l.

Approximately 4 council bins is equivalent to 1 cubic meter.

For example, if you estimate you have 8 bins worth of rubbish, you would have the equivalent of 2 cubic meters.

Now, you can hire a 2 cubic meter bin.

NOTE: if you have any large or unusually shapped items - this may mean a bigger bin is required.

If you have any questions, or need some guidance on your skip bin hire requirements, chat to our team by clicking the chat icon in the bottom right hand corner 24/7.

    5. What does the skip hire price include?

The 'upfront pricing' shown in our quotes includes:

    • delivery
    • collection
    • disposal
    • GST
    • 7 days hire period (typically)

However, our pricing does not include:

    • any labour required to load the bin
    • excluded or surcharge items
    • extended hire periods

    6. Can I put a skip on the road if I don’t have space on my property?

Yes, however, to place bin on public property (i.e. a nature strip or road), you may need to obtain a council permit first.

To check whether you need a permit, contact your local council.

Alternately, we can obtain a permit on your behalf for an admin fee of $35 in addition the cost of the permit, as set by your council.

Chat with our team by clicking on the button in the bottom right hand corner 24/7 or call 1800 422 945 Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm for help obtaining your permit.

    7. Do Skip Bin Hire Australia recycle?

Typically, 80-85% of materials removed are recycled once they reach the transfer stations.

Transfer stations are where your rubbish is taken once it is removed from your site. Think of them as giant sorting centres, where rubbish is turned into recycling, sold on or, what's left, put into landfill.

    8. How does Skip Bin Hire Australia work?

Skip Bin Hire Australia is your gateway to easy, stress and hassle free skip hire.

    We are the link between customers and reliable, affordable, local skip suppliers. We deliver a great experience for our customers by;

    1. Scouring the market sorting the good skip hire companies from the bad.
    2. Create competition between suppliers to bring you the best prices in the market, daily.
    3. Providing information, advice and guidance to take the uncertainty out of booking.
    4. Bringining innovative ways to modernise the industry, like our world first 'Skip Now, Pay Later' product.
    5. Remain on hand throughout the booking to resolve any issues, answer questions and organise collection.

    9. How long can I hire a skip for?

As long as you want, at a price!

Standard hire includes 7 days at no additional cost.  Beyond that, suppliers generally apply a surcharge as they can't re-hire that bin elsewhere.

If you need a longer period, speak to our team and we will work to get you the best deal in the market.

    10. Can I have an exact delivery time?

We cannot offer exact delivery times for several reasons:

Firstly, to keep travel and therefore prices down, our supply partners organise their day around delivering clusters of bins in an area.

This would make delivering individual bins at certain time frames costly and difficult.

For this reason, we give a delivery 'window', which we believe strikes the best balance between price and service.

However, should you have reasons for needing a specific time, our suppliers will be happy to oblige (given sufficient notice) for an additional charge.

    11. How do I pay?

We take payment via credit or debit card directly on our website or, via our Skip Now, Pay Later solution.

NOTE: to apply for 'Skip Now, Pay Later' simply click the option at check out.

    12. What is Skip Bin 'Spot Pricing'?

Pricing in the skip bin market is driven, like any other industry, by supply and demand.

Our goal is to always bring the best prices to our customers, so during periods of low demand, we negotiate better rates with our suppliers and pass the savings on.

Conversely, this means pricing can increase during high demand periods.

For Commercial clients, we typically negotiate fixed pricing over a given period to help cash flow, forecasting and budgeting - though note these prices are not displayed on the site.

    13. Why does pricing vary by location?

State by state pricing will vary depending on local factors like cost of business, but also largely the cost of diposal.

Cost of disposal is driven by the levies set by the state Environmental Protection Agency. Currently NSW pays the highest levies by some margin.

Within state (and even within cities) the pricing will again vary, but this is driven more by micro factors, like the proximity of supply partners to your job.

This is driven by the relative lack of suppliers located in an area and, therefore, the cost and time needed for them to travel to the project location for drop-off and pick-up.
